2011
Corex begins expansion into Business and Professional space, Cape Town opens
2011 is turning into the biggest change for Corex, with a new business division focused specifically on B2B products. This division will handle AOpen Digital Signage Solutions, Cuscapi Point-of-Sale software and Partner Tech Point-of-sale hardware. The division will also offer Sony Professional Products including Digital Signage, Video Conferencing and Security Surveillance. LG Commercial Displays & Security, as well as Samsung’s Commercial Display products round out the portfolio, and this is the next leap forward for Corex and will take the company to the next level of distribution and make the company one of the most diverse distributors in South Africa. April 2011 also the establishment of the 2nd regional Corex branch, based in Cape Town after the successful opening of the Durban operation in 2008. The Cape Town operation is tasked with offering the same excellent products and service to the reseller channel in the Cape provinces and early signs already point to future success in the region.
2010
Corex Gains LG, Western Digital & Corsair range
2011 has been a good year so far, with LG and Corsair coming on board. The LG Distribution encompasses the range of desktop LCD and LED based monitors. The partnership has enabled Corex to really feature more prominently in the monitor space. Western Digital and Corex also partnered together to distribute their products, including the award winning external hard drive range, digital media boxes and internal storage solutions. Corex also gained Corsair, whose range of gaming memory, water cooling systems, gaming chassis and power supplies compliments Corex existing product portfolio.
2009
Corex partners with Transcend
2009 saw Corex partner with Transcend, one of Taiwan’s leading memory and flash manufacturers. With the complete range of products open, Corex is able to offer the Transcend Desktop and Notebook memory module range, the wide varied range of USB Flash Drives, Transcends extensive range of flash cards for cameras, cellphones, and Transcends storage and consumer electronics range including external hard disk drives, digital photo frames, and MP3/MP4 players.
2008
Corex opens new Durban operation
2008 saw Corex expand its operations to the Durban region, expanding Corex footprint past the Gauteng region for the first time. Corex has since grown to be one of the leading suppliers on the Durban region with a loyal customer base and steadily growing revenue. The Durban branch has grown from strength to strength and continues to offer leading products to the Durban channel.
2007
Corex gains MSI and AOpen
2007 saw Corex begin offering the complete product range of Micro Star International, otherwise known as MSI. The range included motherboards, graphics cards, notebooks, all-in-one PC’s and digital peripheral products. AOpen was also introduced into the Corex portfolio, including the chassis range, small form factor PC’s, display products, and select component offerings. The two new brands assisted in strengthening the Corex portfolio and also provided customers with more choice, and access to some of the best known brands in the industry.
2006
Corex involved with rAge expo, Launches ADATA in South Africa
2006 saw Corex become involved in the rAge expo for the first time, sponsoring the event and showcasing its products to the gaming community. During 2006, Corex launched ADATA Memory products to the market, offering some of the most innovative and inspired products to the South African channel.
2005
Corex grabs ASUS Distribution
During 2005, Corex obtained the rights to distribute ASUS products in South Africa. As one of the leading brands in Taiwan and globally, Corex gained access to sell their range of motherboards, graphics cards and chassis products, offering some of the most sought after component products. 2005 also brought Sapphire to the Corex portfolio, offering their range of ATI Graphics cards.
2004
Corex brings CNET & A4 Tech to the market
Mid 2004 saw Corex bring the CNET range of networking products to the channel, offering network switches, wireless networking, communications and Bluetooth products. A4 Tech was also introduced with their extensive range of peripheral products including mouse, keyboards, headsets and headphones, microphones and speakers. These renowned brands helped Corex further expand their fledgling but rapidly expanding portfolio.
2003
Corex is established, brings Thermaltake & Antec to market
2003 saw the official opening of Corex as a new distributor in South Africa, in October of 2003. Corex came to market offering some of the best of breed brands that had little or no exposure to the market, namely Thermaltake with their range of gaming chassis, power supplies, cooling solutions and storage products. Antec was also offered with a plethora of chassis and power supply options.
